Guy Martin’s Triumph Land Speed Record attempt blasts off

  • By cannonball

Guy Martin’s assault on the motorcycle land speed record has blasted off on the pristine whiteness of the Bonneville Salt Flats.

Lincolnshire’s finest wriggled down into the cockpit of the 1000bhp Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner to commence a series of tests ahead of the official speed record attempts scheduled to take place later this month.

“It’s all going according to plan,” said Guy after the first session.

Triumph’s aim is to exceed the current record that stands at 376.363 mph with their carbon Kevlar monocoque Rocket Streamliner, which uses two turbocharged Triumph Rocket III engines producing a combined 1000bhp @ 9000rpm. The enclosed motorcycle is 25.5 feet long, 2 feet wide and 3 feet tall, and runs on methanol. The team is targeting the record for the Division C (streamlined motorcycle) category.
