Is end of Victory Motorcycles the end of Empulse electric bike too?

  • By cannonball

The Brammo Empulse electric motorcycle has long been the “other” mainstream electric motorcycle—but its days now appear to be officially numbered.

Polaris Industries bought the electric motorcycle business assets of Brammo in January 2015, and added the Empulse to its Victory lineup.

This was big news for people who follow electric motorcycles.

What is CBR?

  • By cannonball

It’s an event like no other and an experience that you will genuinely remember forever.

First and foremost it is about THE RIDE. Amazing roads with maximum grip and minimal traffic are what we search out.

Whilst THE DESTINATIONS are incredible, it is THE JOURNEY that CBR is all about. A journey where you will discover as much about yourself as the wildly varied places that you pass through.

Most importantly though, it is THE PEOPLE that come to share THE EXPERIENCES, THE CHALLENGE and THE SHEER ADVENTURE of it all that create a fusion of CAMARADERIE which is very hard to put into words:

Dakar Look: Walt Siegl restyles the Ducati Hypermotard

  • By cannonball

It’s Dakar time right now, with over 160 motorcycles racing through Paraguay, Bolivia and Argentina. The rally raid bikes have always looked good: they’re extreme examples of form following function.

Master builder and ex-racer Walt Siegl is a fan, too. “I’m always thrilled to see the brutal design of the Dakar bikes,” he says. And to prove it, he’s just built a stunning Ducati Hypermotard that transfers that aggressive style to the street.

Impressive Start For Yamaha Racing At Dakar Rally 2017

  • By cannonball

The 2017 Dakar Rally got underway today in South America with all four Yamalube Yamaha Official Rally Team riders reaching the finish of its opening stage without any problems. Posting the fastest time during the day’s short special, Frenchman Xavier de Soultrait was later hit with a one minute penalty that dropped the WR450F mounted rider to 10th overall.

Yamaha’s representatives at the 2017 Dakar Rally got their two-week adventure under way with a short but technical special stage north of Asunción, before entering the long liaison section that lead them to Resistencia in Argentina. Despite being only 39km long the day’s special stage proved to be quite challenging, with both fast and technical sections over slippery terrain.

The Future Of Motorcycling According to BMW

  • By cannonball

Access to information has been democratized by the internet, but access to powerful individuals remains a high bar for most. So, when we had a chance to sit down with one of BMW’s upper-echelon execs and throw him some questions about Motorrad’s current and future plans, we elbowed our way in.

Peter Schwartzenbauer might be a name unfamiliar to you, but he’s become one of BMW’s most influential executives since being placed as a member of BMW AG’s Board of Management in 2013. In addition to overseeing BMW’s Mini and Rolls-Royce brands, he’s also responsible for the BMW Motorrad division, following two decades of working at Porsche and Audi.

  • By cannonball

During CES 2017 this week car and bike manufacturer Honda have unveiled a new experimental motorbike that is capable of balancing upright on its own and can even autonomously follow its rider when required.

Check out the demonstration video below to see how the experimental Honda self balancing motorbike functions thanks to its Riding Assist technology which enables the bike to automatically balance itself.

The new Honda Riding Assist technology has been developed building on technology used in Honda’s ASIMO robot and its self-balancing scooter called the UNI-CUB. Unfortunately no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet by Honda, but as soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated as always.

Inside London’s Daredevil Biker Community

  • By cannonball

DAN GIANNOPOULOS WASN’T terribly concerned about his safety as he lay on the street, which he considered the best angle to photograph a motorcycle doing donuts just feet from his head. “Looking back at the photographs, I might have been a little too close,” he says.

You’ll get almost as close to the action looking at his fascinating black-and-white series South London Bikelife.  Giannopoulos spent a year inside the city’s thriving, thrill-seeking subculture of motorcycle daredevils. Dozens of people gather in parking lots, deserted roads and other expanses of pavement to do all manner of tomfoolery, often to the chagrin of the local constabulary. “It’s a way they find some sense of belonging and community,” Giannopoulos says.
